Atlantic Canada Focus
Early in my career, I worked inside a large firm. The work was technically sound. But something was consistently missing: the ability to actually make a difference for the people on the other side of the desk. Owner-managed businesses — the ones built by families, by individuals who sacrificed and took risks and created something real — were being served adequately when they deserved to be served exceptionally.
I left to build something different. ANR was founded on a straightforward conviction: that business owners in Atlantic Canada deserve a trusted advisor who takes the time to understand their specific situation, their goals, their family, and what they've invested to get here.
Not a compliance firm. Not a firm that shows up at tax time and disappears. A firm that is genuinely invested in the outcome — for the business, and for the family behind it.
That conviction has shaped every engagement, every conversation, and every piece of advice given over 24 years and dozens of business transitions across New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.
The TEP designation is held by fewer CPAs in Atlantic Canada than most owners realize. It represents advanced expertise in estate planning, trust structures, and the complex intersection of business and personal wealth — precisely the issues that determine how much value an owner ultimately keeps from a lifetime of work. For an owner-managed business, having a CPA who also holds the TEP designation in their corner is a meaningful and uncommon advantage.
Strategy is everything. The question is whether your business is structured to let it work. The most sophisticated tax plan, the most carefully constructed succession, the most well-considered exit — none of it performs the way it should if the foundation underneath it hasn't been properly built.
The Control–Stability–Focus framework exists for one reason: to let great strategy flow freely through every layer of your business and your life. Each step clears the path for the next. Each layer makes the advice above it more powerful, more durable, and more likely to protect the full value of what you've built.
When the sequence is right, strategy doesn't stall or get exposed under pressure. It builds — through the structure, through the transition, through the estate — exactly the way it was intended to.
This is not a rigid process for its own sake. It is the discipline that allows every piece of advice to actually do its job — building on what came before it, reinforcing what comes after, and protecting the full value of what the owner has spent their working life creating.
01 · Foundation
Clean structure. Clear ownership. No hidden liabilities, unresolved agreements, or gaps that will surface at the worst possible moment. Strategy cannot flow through a business that isn't in order.
02 · PROTECTION
The owner's personal and estate foundation secured before the transaction. Wealth protected independent of the business outcome. Nothing built on top until this layer holds.
03 · ARCHITECTURE
The owner's personal and estate foundation secured before the transaction. Wealth protected independent of the business outcome. Nothing built on top until this layer holds.
Where ANR Focuses
ANR works exclusively with owner-managed businesses. Every service is oriented toward the same outcome: protecting and maximizing the value of what you have built — during the business, and at the moment of transition.
I.
Guiding owners through the most consequential financial transaction of their lives. Structure, tax planning, due diligence preparation, and the hard conversations that determine whether the value holds when the pressure is on.
II.
Navigating the intersection of business, family, and legacy. Including the question nobody wants to ask first: whether the next generation actually wants what is being handed to them.
III.
Proactive, specific, and built around your actual situation — not a generic framework applied to your numbers. Structure that holds up when it needs to.
IV.
TEP-level expertise applied to the protection of everything you've built. Ensuring that the wealth created by a lifetime of work reaches the people it was meant for.
Why This WorkS
I understand the sacrifices that go into owning and running a business — the early mornings, the risks, the years of carrying the weight of decisions that affect your family and your livelihood. I understand the highs and the lows that never appear on a financial statement.
That understanding is what drives this work. When a business owner reaches the moment of transition — whether that is a sale, a succession, or simply the question of what comes next — everything they have built is on the table. The goal is to ensure they protect the maximum value for themselves and for their family.
Not approximately. Not generically. Specifically — for their structure, their situation, and their life.
That is what it means to work with an advisor who actually understands what you've built.
The transitions that protect the most value begin years before the pressure
arrives. The conversation costs nothing. The delay might.
