Estate Planning & Executor Services

Our unique service line is the Trust and Estate Planning services offered to our clients.

Jason has his Trust and Estate Practitioner designation (TEP) and Senior Manager, Ashley Parker has her Certificate in Estate and Trust Administration (CETA), and are both members of STEP Canada (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).

Taking a proactive approach to planning for your estate is key in ensuring that you pass the value that you have worked hard in obtaining to your beneficiaries. The Estate planning process is a detailed process in which Jason works with our clients to discuss their goals and objectives in respect of their Estate. Starting the discussion is the hardest part and we are able to provide an environment that allows for open and frank discussion.

ANR works with clients to build an Estate plan that will meet the client’s goals and wishes and provides instruction on how to properly structure the plan to minimize taxes and to allow for the smooth implementation and execution of the Estate Plan. ANR works closely with the client’s legal counsel to implement these plans.

Estate Tax Closure Program

Close the estate. Eliminate CRA risk. Distribute with confidence. Administering an estate doesn’t end with probate.
Executors remain personally exposed until all tax filings are completed and the Canada Revenue Agency confirms the estate is clear.

ANR’s Estate Tax Closure Program is a structured, fixed-scope engagement designed to complete all required estate tax filings and obtain CRA clearance, so the estate can be finalized properly and distributions can proceed without uncertainty. This is not piecemeal tax preparation. It is a controlled, end-to-end tax closure mandate.

What This Program Delivers

The Estate Tax Closure Program is designed to bring the estate to tax finality.

The program typically includes:

Final personal tax return (T1) for the deceased,

Required prior-year T1 filings, if applicable,

Up to three years of Graduated Rate Estate (GRE) T3 filings,

Preparation and submission of the CRA Clearance Certificate application,

Ongoing CRA correspondence related to estate tax matters,

Sequencing guidance to ensure distributions are made at the appropriate time.

The outcome is simple: CRA confirmation that the estate’s tax obligations are complete.

Who This Is For

This program is designed for:

Executors who want clarity, structure, and certainty

Families who want the estate closed properly — not dragged out

Legal professionals seeking a reliable tax partner for estate completion

Estates where tax compliance and CRA exposure must be handled correctly the first time

If you are looking for “just one return filed,” this is not the right service.

How the Process Works

1. Scope & Intake
We review the estate structure, prior filings, income sources, and timing requirements.

2. Fixed Engagement
Once scoped, the work is completed under a clearly defined mandate: no drifting, no surprises.

3. Filing & CRA Coordination
All required filings are completed, followed by CRA correspondence and clearance tracking.

4. Tax Closure
The process concludes only once CRA clearance has been obtained or the file has been formally resolved.

Why ANR

Estate tax work is not routine compliance. It requires judgment, sequencing, and an understanding of how CRA actually operates.

ANR approaches estate matters through our Estate Stability framework, ensuring that tax obligations are handled methodically, risks are contained, and executors are not left exposed. Our role is simple: finish the estate properly.
